Digital photography has really changed the landscape of photography. What was almost a dead industry has been brought back stronger than ever. I have been a Canon user since my first film based Rebel bought in 1994. I do admit that I prefer Canon to other brands. I shot about a thousand pics over the next 6 years. Then I got my Canon G2 with which I shot at least a thousand in the first year. Granted they were nor all keepers but by shooting more I think I have gotten better.

My current “real” camera is Canon 5D. This is a full frame SLR that can accept the full gamut of accessories. It is a prosumer camera and is therefore both large and heavy but gets great pictures. Even after 5 years of use I am still yet to tap its full potential. I am anxious to move to the Canon 5D M2 some time next year.

My fun camera for candid photography is the Canon G10, probably one of the best compact cameras on the market today.

My beach and water camera is the Pentax Optio W20

With all these photographs you will need a way to catalog them all. This is where iPhoto comes in. It is the free application that is installed on every Apple Mac and allows me to catalog organize and tag every photograph. I can even edit with it.

For editing I do prefer Adobe photoshop CS3. Though for most users the express version is more than enough.
